About the event
Lucy Locket lost her pocket,
Kitty Fisher found it,
Not a penny was there in it,
But a ribbon 'round it.
Remembered in a nursery rhyme, Kitty Fisher was the eighteenth century's 'it girl,' a courtesan who found overnight fame after a riding accident on The Mall. However, she found that her celebrity was a double-edged sword. In this entertaining talk, Kitty's biographer, Joanne Major, will reveal the woman behind the myth and legend.
